Introducing our NEW Executive Director Tim Colbeck....
The new Executive Director is excited to be in Ypsilanti!
Tim Colbeck has a unique background that will serve the
YDDA well. He has an undergraduate degree in geography from Eastern Michigan
University (1991) and a master’s in urban planning from Wayne State
University (2007). His work experience is very diverse and includes stops at
the City of Detroit, Kmart Corporation, and United Way for Southeastern
Michigan. He has considerable experience in the field of economic
development as the Economic Development Manager for the University Cultural
Center Association (UCCA) located in Midtown Detroit and most recently as
the Executive Director and Main Street Manager for the Highland Downtown
Development Authority (HDDA).
Tim is a life-long resident of Southeast Michigan, having grown up in Southwest Detroit and currently residing in Livonia. His spare time is spent with his wife Tricia and son Lucas. He looks forward to reconnecting with the Ypsilanti community that he spent four plus years in when he was a student at EMU.

Meeting Notices and Schedule Changes
The Promotions Committee has changed their meeting location for July 8, 2010 meeting to SPARK East, 215 West Michigan Avenue, and will be meeting at the regularly scheduled time, 7:00 p.m.
The Organization Committee has rescheduled their meetings to the second Wednesday of the Month at 8:00am. The location will remain the same; SPARK East, 215 West Michigan Avenue.

Historic District Commission Upcoming Workshops:
The City of Ypsilanti Historic District Commission will be hosting three workshops this summer to assist property owners with project planning, both for commercial and residential structures. These workshops will be held in the City Council Chambers on the 1st floor of Ypsilanti City Hall. The intent of these workshops is increase communication between the Historic District Commission, disseminate information regarding HDC ordinances, and to help property owners to realize the value of their historic resources and how they can best protect these resources.

The City of Ypsilanti was one of three communities in Michigan to have two separate DDA districts. Until June of 2009, these two districts were governed by two separate DDA boards. The City Council voted on June 16, 2009 to create a single DDA board (see the approved resolution here).
